The drow, often known as dark elves, are a mysterious and feared elven subrace that inhabits the vast subterranean realms of
the Underdark. These dark-skinned cousins of surface elves have adapted to a life shrouded in shadow, far removed from the
light of the sun. Their society is deeply enmeshed with their devotion to Lolth, the Spider Queen, a deity who embodies chaos,
betrayal, and the survival of the fittest. Drow culture revolves around powerful noble houses like Claddath, Fey-Branche,
and Teken'duis, each vying for supremacy through treachery, assassination, and political machinations.
The drow's ebony skin and stark white hair are subjects of much debate among scholars. Some attribute these features to
ancient curses laid upon them by surface elves, while others speculate they arise from pacts made with demonic entities.
Regardless of their origins, these physical traits symbolize their perceived moral blackness, a reflection of their ruthless
and unforgiving nature. Mercy and compassion are alien to drow ethos; weakness is despised and often eradicated without
hesitation.
Despite their cruel disposition, drow are nevertheless an elven race, retaining the slender, agile physiques characteristic
of their kin, albeit typically shorter in stature. They possess an innate confidence in their superiority, fueled by their
insular society's teachings and their devotion to Lolth. This arrogance manifests as disdain for other races, whom they
view with contempt and seek to dominate when possible.
Their reputation as merciless and cunning foes makes them both feared and reviled, their name uttered with a mix of awe
and disgust by those familiar with their ways. Yet beneath their cruel exterior lies a sophisticated society with complex
traditions, including a rich but often deadly culture of intrigue. It is a harsh, survivalist world where betrayal and
ingenuity are rewarded, and where the surface elves’ vibrant songs and laughter have long been replaced by the whispers
of dread and the skittering sound of spider legs.
This House was created many years ago by the faithful followers of Lolth's warrior incarnation. They have lived as a secret order, hidden in the mist of the canyon, for centuries. But now, chaos and war have drawn them out of hiding. The senseless killing that went on when the demons plundered the Realms recently showed the House members that their services were in dire need.
And so they emerged and made themselves known.
House Claddath is filled with warriors and assassins. These are drow whose hearts are cold and hard as ice. No emotion crosses their faces to betray them ever. They do not think twice about killing a child, even if it is their own blood. They are mercenaries, living only to kill.
For many, the House provides them the chance to belong to a family. They are here, with people who are like them, because their families turned them out. Yes, even the dark-hearted drow despise these heartless assassins. Many here seek revenge, harbor some deep, dark need to obliterate whoever and whatever wronged them. They know the tools of their trades. The warriors can wield every weapon known to the Realms with devastating effects. Every mage knows every little nuance and inflection of his or her voice to create mass destruction and chaos. Every cleric can call down the power of Lolth to decimate blasphemous fools, and every occultist can summon demons of monstrous ferocity.
These are the assassins, the mercenaries, the ones who do not bat at eye at death and destruction, and relish the miseries of others. They enjoy seeing others' pain and sorrow, and despise the weak at heart.

The glory of the current First House of Sreen began at the start of the Second Age, right after the fall of House Baenre. Fey-Branche played a key role in assisting House Xorlarrin in turning back Delaronna and her elven army after their sack of House Baenre. Xorlarrin ruled for centuries but Fey-branche was always just behind them. It was then that the wicked Matron Nuk'tutha decided that she required extra "help" in the destruction of Xorlarrin. She began to explore the Outer Planes in search of powerful beings to assist her in her quest for domination. Upon sacrificing one hundred of her finest warriors and two of her daughters she gained enough power to break through to a dark dimension, darker than any race had ever seen. Here she met the Triad of Darkness, and went through a series of trials to gain their loyalty. With their help she grew in power and taught her offspring the powers she learned. Gaining much power of many extra-planar creatures she decided she had the power to take House Xorlarrin and keep the power afterwards. She enlisted the aid of two of the other house remaining in her mad scheme. One night they all struck. House Agrach Dyrr successfully kept Xorlarrin in the dark and then assassinated key officers and a few high priestesses. House Teken'duis stayed in their smelly house and cast great spells of weakening and threw many minions of Death into the fray. But House Fey-branche played a critical role with their massive legions of demons and drow warriors enchanted with extra-planar powers and utterly destroyed House Xorlarrin in three hours. Naturally most of the spoils went to Fey-branche and they became the First House of Sreen. Bloated with power, Matron Nuk'tutha made a minor error in her protections while trying to summon Chunthaka, a great balor demon, and she paid the greatest price for it. Trenadere became Matron after that and her first deed was to capture and imprison Chunthaka, using his life force to sustain the defences and power of House Fey-branche. Trenadere soldified the Fey-branche foothold on the seat of Sreen but later met her mother's fate when trying to recover a powerful atrtifact from the ruins of House Xorlarrin.
House Fey-branche is not concerned with attempting to live forever like those cowards in Tek, nor playing with secrets and hiding like those weaklings in Dyrr. Fey has known where the true strength lies, and that is in power. Using its massive extra-dimensional contacts and servitors, Fey-branche uses might and annihilates whatever crosses its path. The house's warriors are strengthened by the gifts of pit fiends and are multiplied by the untold legions of the Nine Hells. It's house has also become a main point of interest for all things extra-planar, and many supra-powerful beings will stop there and be entertained by the house, and often leave gifts or offer services. They also know what it means to offend the house as well. Though the nobles are silent, it is rumored that there is another part of the house in another dimension, where strange experiments are being created. Deep in the house are areas whose sole purpose is to siphon energy from other planes for use by Fey. It is also rumored by the commoners that deep in the heart of the house lies a gate to the Hall of Worlds, and from there lies the dark plane of the Triad of Darkness.
